[ It's easily grasped; its expression is remote, but you get a sense of potential from it. ]

he's not putting it on himself to be clear ]

[ In the mirror, the mask bears an actual expression. It seems to be smiling and winking suggestively.

Somewhere in the room, magnified by the echoes, comes the sound of something rustling and fluttering. ]

[ shifts over to hold it up in front of a different mirror, to see if the expression is the same

he doesn't have any outward reaction to the sound but he's paying attention, even though he doesn't look around ]

[ The expression of the mask in this mirror is dazed and drunken-looking.

That sound repeats again. ]

[ One shows an angry face on the mask, the other...the same blank expression as it wears in reality.

But in both cases, there's the sound of something rustling and fluttering somewhere in the amphitheater. ]

[ It feels like a normal mirror. Nothing happens. ]

[ sighs. he tucks the mask under his arm and walks away from the center stage, to see if he can find the source of the rustling just by walking around and looking. ]

[ It becomes apparent that there are a number of scraps of paper scattered about the theater now... ]

[ Each piece of paper has one word on it; the words are in several different colors of ink. At a glance, you can see moon and villains, but there seem to be quite a few more lying around... ]

takes them all back to the pedestal just to use it as a table, scooting the mask to one side so he has room to arrange them, red first

and pauses a moment, glancing at the mirror where the mask had been winking ]

[ The mask is still winking; it seems a little more animated, somehow, but not quite alive. ]

[ he figures that means close but no cigar, but moves on to the next anyway:

and looks at the mirrors, though he's not totally certain which one this corresponds to unlike the other ]

[ That one seems to be even closer: the mirror that reflected the mask's own neutral expression shimmers a little, then goes still again ]
