[ Yup, you can pull it right out of the ground pretty easily to reveal that where its roots should be are the teeth of a key. ]

Someone else's feelings suddenly well up inside you. You're seized with a wistful, earnest appreciation for all the beauty around you: the nearby greenery, the roiling clouds above, the scent of the sea in the air, everything--you love all of it. ]

[ He has a lot of it. Anyway, the gate swings open.

Beyond the gate, as could be expected, lies a cave--but light filters down through gaps in the stone ceiling, and the whole place is lush with plant life. Scattered pools of dark, glittering water bear floating lily pads; vines sprouting ripe fruit crawl up the walls.

In the dappled light at the center of the cave the massive skeleton of some kind of huge serpent coils. Flowers and vines of all kinds grow over its spine and ribs; fruit emerges from its empty eye sockets; grapes hang from its horns. ]

[ It somehow radiates hunger, an appetite that goes beyond mere physical need to eat while at the same time being intensely physical.

The sensation ceases as soon as you stop touching it. ]

[ Which fruits? There are grapes growing through the eye sockets of the skeleton, more grapes along the walls, and somehow clinging to rocks and bits of earth scattered throughout the cave are fig and pomegranate trees. ]

[ It's absolutely delicious--just ripe enough, and somehow slightly boozy--

As you bite into it, suddenly your consciousness expands, and the experience of the grape itself floods into you. Being plucked in pain; being torn open and chewed up. ]
